Note:

  • Reservation and age relaxation for various categories will be provided as per Government of India rules and Railway Board instructions.

  • Completion of apprenticeship training does not guarantee employment in the Railways.

Application Fee

Candidates belonging to General/UR/OBC categories must pay an application fee of Rs. 100/- through Indian Postal Order (IPO) or Demand Draft drawn in favour of “Principal Financial Adviser/Rail Wheel Factory.” SC/ST, Women candidates, and Physically Handicapped applicants are exempted from payment of fees. The fee is non-refundable under any circumstances. It is mandatory that the Demand Draft or IPO is issued on or after 28 February 2026. Applications without the applicable fee will be rejected outright.

Rail Wheel Factory Apprentice Eligibility Criteria 2025–26

Candidates must carefully evaluate the eligibility criteria before applying to ensure they fulfill both age and educational requirements prescribed for apprenticeship training.

Age Limit

The minimum age required is 15 years (completed), and the maximum age for General/UR candidates is 24 years (not completed). Upper age relaxation is applicable as per government norms: SC/ST candidates receive a relaxation of 5 years (up to 29 years), while OBC candidates receive 3 years (up to 27 years).

Educational Qualification

Applicants must have passed the 10th standard or its equivalent examination with at least 50% aggregate marks from a recognized board as on 28 February 2026. In addition, candidates must possess a valid National Trade Certificate (NTC) in the relevant trade issued by the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT). Both academic and technical qualifications are mandatory for consideration.

Stipend Details

Selected apprentices will receive a monthly stipend as per the prescribed rates:

  • Fitter, Machinist, Mechanic (Motor Vehicle), Turner, Electrician, Electronic Mechanic – ₹12,261 per month
  • CNC Programming cum Operator (COE Group) – ₹10,899 per month

The stipend is intended to support candidates during their training period as they gain practical industrial experience.

Selection Process

The selection for apprenticeship training will be purely merit-based. The merit list will be prepared based on the percentage of marks secured in the 10th Standard/Matriculation examination, provided the candidate has obtained at least 50% aggregate marks. The aggregate percentage will be calculated considering marks obtained in all subjects mentioned in the mark sheet. The merit list will be arranged in descending order of percentage while ensuring reservation guidelines for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen are followed.

Step-by-Step Application Process

  • Download the application format (Annexure-A) along with Annexures B, C, D, and E from the official website.
  • Carefully read all instructions before filling out the form.
  • Fill Annexure-A accurately, ensuring that personal details match the Matriculation certificate and Aadhaar records.
  • Affix a recent passport-size color photograph and sign it appropriately.
  • Prepare the Demand Draft or IPO of Rs. 100/- (if applicable).
  • Arrange self-attested photocopies of all required certificates.
  • Superscribe the envelope clearly with:
    “Application for undergoing training under the Apprentices’ Act, 1961 for the year 2025-26 in Rail Wheel Factory.”

Tie-Breaking Criteria

In cases where two or more candidates secure the same percentage of marks, preference will be given to the candidate who is older in age. If both marks and date of birth are identical, the candidate who passed the 10th examination earlier will be placed higher in the merit list.
